Ministry of the Environment | FLOATING OFFSHORE WIND TURBINE DEMONSTRATION PROJECT

OUTLINE

Floating Offshore Wind Turbine Plant is generally considered to have less impact for the scenery, sound and low frequency noise, because windmill is placed offshore far from land.
Since this is the first case of the demonstration project for the floating system in Japan,
environmental impact assessment including observation of wind velocity, wave, water quality and bird strike have been done in advance.

Result of the investigation regarding all items done each seasons at surrounding water and inside Kabashima Island nearby the windmill showed impact to the environment is small.

Another environmental impact assessment is scheduled after installation of the test plant onward.
